Legislative changes have meant that companies need to be increasingly careful over how they collect and process data relating to individuals and how they make that data available to others. However, clients are also more aware than ever of the valuable resource comprised in their data and are willing to commit resources to its proper protection. We advise companies and individuals of their data protection rights and obligations. We develop privacy policies, carry out compliance audits and advise on best practice in the handling of personal and sensitive data. We recently advised a leading e-commerce company on issues relating to the international transfer of data, safe harbour provisions and suitable contractual protection and assurances relating to such transfers.
